This started out feeling a lot like Jenny Han - Summer I Turned Pretty 1 - The Summer I Turned Pretty with "teenage love and angst" being the central conflict, but I was happy to see it take a better turn! In the end, it was fine. I was surprised by the end but I also didn't care too much about the characters.

I really enjoyed this. It was heartfelt and a pleasure to read. There were certainly not many "twists" but I did find that every time I thought I knew what this was about and what the central challenge was going to be, I was proven wrong.

I really enjoyed this once I got into it. It didn't take me long to get into the story, but rather the prose. It was a bit dense, harder to follow, and full of references. But I started following along just fine and coming to really like the characters. I really felt like I could be in those rooms and like I was old friends.
I do think the end was poorly motivated. I wish I understood why it happened that way.
I wish I tracked quotes while listening. There were so many quotable lines!
One note, my Mom said this is the only book that she stated reading again immediately after finishing. I reread (listened) to the first chapter again and was glad to have done it, though I do not plan to read it all again.

I didn't love this. I really wanted to but I found the tension created by the (unrealistic) characters was too much. And the ending was too "easy". I found myself ready for the book to be over and I struggled to really care too much.
